The Portsmouth Museums Foundation hires new Executive Director, Mrs. Cameron Hunter.

Following an extensive search, the Portsmouth Museums Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Cameron Hunter as the new Executive Director.

Cameron comes to the foundation with a long history of development work including roughly two decades of experience with KinderMourn, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, UMAR, and the Providence Day School. She has overseen multi-million-dollar budgets and has experience working on small teams that consistently exceeded fundraising goals. Cameron has a strong resume including special events, major gifts, planned giving, grants stewardship, and donor relations programs. She is a graduate of Meredith College (Raleigh, NC) and lives in Norfolk with her husband and two teenage sons. We are confident that under her leadership, the foundation’s success and impact in achieving its mission and vision will continue to flourish.

Please join us in welcoming Cameron as Executive Director. She can be reached at exec@portsmouthmuseumsfoundation.org. We are excited for this next chapter for the Portsmouth Museums Foundation.

"Making a Difference"

Observing the sheer joy, excitement, curiosity, and fun of children and their parents having the ability to explore and participate in hands-on activities that enhance learning while visiting the Children’s Museum with our adopted grandson, Dimitri, opened our eyes to the need for such a facility locally. Dimitri’s fascination with the train exhibit and touring Molly the Train caused us to plan many visits for him. We will continue to donate to the Children’s Museum and Portsmouth Museums Foundation in hopes of keeping this local treasure available to the youth of Hampton Roads.

"Honored to Support"

Being a mother, grandmother, and now great grandmother, I have been involved in organizations that are not only in need of financial support, but are also dedicated to bringing joy in a playful and educational atmosphere to children of all ages. It has been an honor being a board member of the Portsmouth Museums Foundation, Inc., with a group of dedicated individuals that are continually working to fulfill its mission in raising funds for the Children’s Museum of Virginia to ensure that generations of children to come would be able to experience its wonder and excitement.
